Working The Wedge

As an Umpire working the wedge is one of the most important concepts you can learn . This will put you in the proper placement to see the play and get the call right. It is a window into the play, and it is reached by driving a “vision wedge” between the defender and the offense player. It will put in you a position to see everything. If done correctly, the call can be made with no movement. There are many videos that show the wedge … do a search or watch these. Remember the wedge does not only apply to home plate, but every base on the baseball diamond.
